DAY
01  
Early morning departure from the city of Cusco in one of our vehicles specially equipped for the route. We will gothrough interesting inter-Andean valleys and picturesque peasant communities visiting the pre-Inca tombs or ·”Chullpas” of NinamarcaAt noon, we will go through Paucartambo, a very important typical colonial town in those times that still preserves its colonial style. Continuing with the journey, we will ascend up to the Acjanacu mountain pass at 3,850 m.a.s.l. From here, we start the descent going across the cloud forest which is a rich area in endemic species such as the black-masked bear, the Gallito de las Rocas, orchids, bromeliads, ferns among others, and where we will spend our first night comfortably settled in an open air platform at the “San Pedro” lodge.
DAY 02   
Very early we will be able to observe, comfortably sit in an observation platform called “Lek,” the interesting courting dance of the Gallito de las Rocas, Peruvian National bird, which has a flashy and very intense reddish-orange plumage. After breakfast, continue the ride on the bus across the high jungle, arriving to the locality of Pilcopata and then to the port of Atalaya (700 m.a.s.l.), located on the shores of the Alto Madre de Dios river, where an outboard motor boat will be waiting for us loaded with the required gear for the trip. In this way we begin the downstream journey where we will be able to observe the great diversity of birds such as herons, vultures, cormorants and others until arriving at the private reserve “Erika” where we will spend the next 2 nights. Short walk on to get to know the surroundings.
1*Optional: Canoeing option (class II and III) from the town of Pilcopata for an approximately 1 ½ hours on the Kosñipata and Alto Madre d Dios tropical rivers, going across the spectacular Pongo de Koñeq where one can enjoy the landscape and dive in its crystal-clear waters. Continue downstream until reaching Erika private reserve.
2*Optional:
we walk along a path that will take us to our observation platform (vintage point) located 15 meters away from the “collpa” where we will wait for the flock / herd of “huanganas” to see them in action. Important: the observation of the herd depends very much on luck, place availability and weather conditions.
DAY 03   
Erika is located in the Transitional Area between the high and low jungle (600 m.a.s.l. and 1,550 m.a.s.l.). The different altitudes give place to diverse habitats, which explains the great diversity of wild life of the surroundings. After breakfast, we will board the embarkation in which we will sail for 5 minutes to cross the Alto Madre de Dios River we will walk for another 30 minutes approximately though a very nice trail to observe and talk about the interesting flora fond such as sensitive plants, helico nias, fruit plantations, etc. until we arrive to Machuwasi Lake where with the help of a telescope we can observe great egrets, tucanets, carpenters, Keskadees, cardinals, etc.
DAY 04   
We start the day early in the morning to have a short walk to watch some animals. After breakfast we will have time to do some activities where there will be some spare time too, but this will be done previous agreement with passengers and guides. Early in the afternoon, we will dedicate time to walk in search of jungle wild life. A chance to take a short night walk.
*Optional Canopy Tour: our clients go from tree to tree, from platform to platform using harnesses fixed to a horizontal cable with rail system by which one will slide at great speed over the top of the trees of this fabulous Amazon jungle where one can watch the birds diversity and the flora of the area. Specialized personnel will assist the participants at every moment during this exciting adventure and where they will be explained whatever they consider interesting from the moment they leave the ground un til the rappel descent from 30 meters high.
DAY 05  
After breakfast we will board the embarkation in which we will sail for 10 minutes heading towards the “Collpa”, a clay wall on the shores of the river where different species of parrots as the blue headed parrot, the white eye parakeet and maybe even the Maracano macaw (Ara severa) among others that come down each morning to extract and lick chunks of clay containing the necessary minerals for a balanced diet. At the end of this daily activity we will continue on boat to the port of Atalaya where a bus will be waiting for us to take us back to the city of Cusco. Arrival at the city at night.
