DAY
01 
Early morning departure from the city of Cusco in one of our vehicles specially equipped for the route. We will go through interesting inter-Andean valleys and picturesque peasant communities, visiting the pre-Incan tombs of Ninamarca known as “Chullpas”. At noon, we will go across Paucartambo, a very important typical colonial town in those times that still preserves its colonial style. Continuing with the journey, we will ascent up to the Acjanacu mountain pass at 3,850 m.a.s.l. From there, we will start the descent going across the cloud forest, a very rich area in endemic species such as the black-masked bear, the Gallito de las Rocas, orchids, bromeliads, ferns and others. We will spend the night at the “San Pedro” lodge comfortably set in an open air platform.
DAY 02   
Very early we will be able to observe, comfortably sit in an observation platform called “Lek,” the interesting courting dance of the Gallito de las Rocas, Peruvian National bird, which has a flashy and very intense reddish-orange plumage. After breakfast, continue the ride on the bus across the high jungle, arriving to the locality of Pilcopata* and then to the port of Atalaya (700 m.a.s.l.), located on the shores of the Alto Madre de Dios river, where an outboard motor boat will be waiting for us. We will board the boat loaded with the required gear for the trip, staring a downstream journey where we will be able to observe the great diversity of birds such as herons, vultures, cormorants and others until arriving at the private reserve “Erika” where we will hike along interesting trails in the transitional area between the high and low jungle. Overnight at the lodge.
1*Optional: Canoeing (class II and III) from the town of Pilcopata for approximately 1 ½ hours on the Kosñipata and Alto Madre de Dios tropical rivers, going across the spectacular Pongo de Koñeq where we will stop to enjoy the landscape and dive in its crystal-clear waters. Continue downstream until reaching Erika private reserve.
2*Optional: we walk along a path that will take us to our observation platform (vintage point) located 15 meters away from the “collpa” where we will wait for the flock / herd of “huanganas” to see them in action. Important: the observation of the herd depends very much on luck, place availability and weather conditions.
DAY 03   
After having breakfast we will board the embarkation in which we will sail on the Alto Madre de Dios river for approximately 4 hours heading towards Boca Manu airfield. The ride on boat will give us a chance to watch birds such as rayadores (Rhynchops melanura), herons and many other species of kingfishers, swallows and flycatchers. In the Boca Manu Villa you have the last chance to buy groceries and cold drinks. Overnight in the Boca lodge. Probabilities of taking a short night walk.
* Optional Canopy Tour: our clients go from tree to tree, from platform to platform using harnesses fixed on a horizontal cable with rail system by which one will slide at great speed over the top of the trees of this fabulous Amazon jungle appreciating from the top the variety of birds and others in the area. Specialized personnel will assist the participants at every moment during this exciting adventure and where they will be explained whatever they consider interesting from the moment they leave the ground until the rappel descent from 30 meters high.
DAY 04   
After breakfast we will board the embarkation in which we will sail for 10 minutes heading towards the “Collpa”, a clay wall on the shores of the river where different species of parrots as the blue headed parrot, the white eye parakeet and macaws (Ara Militaris) among others that come down each morning to extract the necessary minerals for a balanced diet, giving birth to an unforgettable show of the colourful wild life. Once this activity has finished we will make a brief stop at the Limonal control post where we will hand in the required documents to enter the Reserved Area. We will begin to sail upstream on the Manu River, leaving behind all trace of civilization in order to get to the heart of the Reserve, for about 4 hours until reaching Cocha Salvador, where we will spend the next 2 nights in our safari camp which has double rooms and dining room completely meshed, bathrooms with shower, radio communication service and photovoltaic energy. On the way observe an endless number of birds, caimans, river turtles and some other mammal species frequently sunbathing on the beaches, or feeding from the neighbouring trees. The journey shows the immensity of our jungle. After lunch, we will have time to hike seeking for wild life in the unspoiled jungle as well as talk about ecology in general.
DAY 05   
At dawn, we will probably be woken up by a howling monkey stating his territory before the rest of his species. Before breakfast we will take a morning walk which frequently makes possible to find animals looking for food because of temperature at that time in the morning. We will explore Cocha Salvador, using a catamaran that will allow us to see some fauna species as the giant otter (Pteronura brasiliensis) an endangered species and important inhabitant that one can see fishing, playing or swimming. One can also see black caimans (Melanosuchus niger), hoatzins (Ophistocumus hoatzin), spider monkeys (Ateles paniscus) and others, besides the surrounding flora. After that, we will return to the camp where our personnel will be waiting for us for a restoring breakfast. We will go across primary jungle, with a larger variety of species, heading towards Cocha Otorongo, a lagoon where there is a watch tower strategically located at 15 meters high and where one will have a chance to observe the landscape of the surrounding primary jungle, and more possibilities to see the resident family of giant otters. Additionally, we have a chance to watch for birds living at the canopy. Back to Salvador we will have a chance to use Cocha Salvador´s catamaran and with the help of our flashlights watch black caimans after their prey. Overnight at the safari camp.
DAY 06   
This day we will also wake up early to hike around the surroundings of Cocha Salvador to later pack our things and board the embarkation that will slowly take us downstream the Manu River. We head to Boca Manu, a small town located in the confluence of the Manu and Alto Madre de Dios rivers. From there the river is simply named Madre de Dios becoming a hydrographic axis of the Department of Madre de Dios. Late afternoon arrival at the Juan de Dios Private Reserve where we will take walk along the trail network. We will spend one more night embraced by the magic of the Amazon jungle. A chance of taking a short walk in search for the American toad, hornet frogs, arboreal frogs and a large variety of colourful and interesting insects. Overnight at the Boca Lodge.
DAY 07   
Round noon or earlier the boat will take us along the Alto Madre de Dios River, where one will enjoy watching the large variety of birds
(Optional: take the flight to return to Cusco City). We spend the last night in the wonderful Amazon jungle at the Erika Lodge or camping in an adequate beach.
DAY 08   
Early wake up to continue sailing to the port of Atalaya which we will reach at sunset to then take the bus to return to the city of Cusco where we will arrive at night.
