DAY
01 IQUITOS / LODGE
We begin our adventure along the Peruvian jungle at the airport in the city of Iquitos. We will go to the town of Nauta, the first town founded by the Spanish people on the shores of the MarañónRiver, in a modern and comfortable minivan with air conditioning (in a entirely paved road). The journey lasts about 1 ½ hours for a distance of 97 km. In Nauta we will board the boats to visit the confluence of the Ucayali y Marañón Rivers where we will have a unique view of the birth of the Amazon River from a more than 30 meter high outlook tower. Then we will continue our journey to the lodge to register and lunch. In the afternoon, while taking a walk round the forest surrounding the lodge we will observe the flora and fauna of the place. Depending on weather conditions we will be able to see the beauty of sunset. If the environmental conditions allow it we will go on a boat excursion to some gorge in search of nocturnal animals and insects, and we will listen to the sounds coming from the jungle. After that, we will return to the lodge to dine and rest.
DAY 02 NAUTA GORGE / LODGE
At dawn, we will take a walk watching for birds. Later we will return to the lodge for breakfast. Immediately after, we will go on a boat excursion across the Nauta Gorge or neighbouring lagoons, where we will observe the flora and fauna of the place and watch primates, sloth, aquatic birds, among others. We will stop to enjoy our box lunch under the shadows of the huge trees around us. Later on during our primary forest exploration the guide will identify the medicinal plants and trees of interest. At sunset we will return to the lodge to dine and rest.
DAY 03 PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE / CAMP
Early morning, we will continue watching birds to later return to the lodge on time for breakfast. Immediately after, we will take off to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve where we will register and enter the reserve. In our visit we will go on an excursion searching for pink and grey dolphins along the Yanayacu River. We will additionally get in touch with the huge variety of existing flora and fauna in the reserve. The first thing that will catch our attention is the water of the river that reflect the sky, the clouds, the vegetation on the shores and the big trees with such clarity that the visitors will believe they are sailing over endless mirrors, which is the reason why Pacaya Samiria is also known as “the jungle of the mirrors.” At noon we will stop for a moment to eat lour box lunch. Then, we will visit the lagoons Japón and Plantano both with a large variety of palm trees, trees and beautiful landscape. We will also go on excursions on canoe, go fishing, and hike searching for more animals or maybe just refresh in some of the lagoons. Sometime during the day we will arrive at the camp and get comfortable.
