DAY
01 IQUITOS / LODGE  
 We begin our adventure along the Peruvian jungle at the airport in the city of Iquitos. We will go to the town of Nauta,the first town founded by the Spanish people on the shores of the MarañónRiver, in a modern and comfortable minivan with air conditioning (in a entirely paved road). The journey lasts about 1 ½ hours for a distance of 97 km. In Nauta we will board the boats to visit the confluence of the Ucayali y Marañón Rivers where we will have a unique view of the birth of the Amazon River from a more than 30 meter high outlook tower. On the way we will have a chance to watch herons, prey birds and on the river shores beach birds, among them the “black rayador”. Then, we will continue our journey to the lodge to register and lunch. In the afternoon, we will take a walk around the forest surrounding the lodge and then to the vantage point, ideal for birdwatching on the top of the trees. We will be able to see the Tangara of Paradise, the Purple throat Cotinga, many species of flycatchers, and parrots as the Yellow winged parakeet and the short tail parrot. After that, we will return to the lodge to dine and rest.
DAY 02 NAUTA CAÑO / LODGE  
At daybreak, we will take a walk to the forest surrounding the lodge, where we will have a chance to watch a diversity of partridges. Some of them are the White throat partridge, the big partridge, the ash-grey partridge, the small partridge and other birds such as the Yellow head Caracara (Polyburos tharus), the White eye parrot, dark head parrot, cobalt winged parakeet, the Tui parakeet, the yellow winged parakeet, the short tail parrot among others. Later we will return to the lodge for breakfas t. Later on we will board an embarkation to sail along the Marañon River to watch the species inhabiting the islands in the river, such as the Tirano de Ciénega de Cabeza Blanca, Arbustero Negro, Batrá de Castelnau, Cola Espina de Vientre Blanco, Hornero Menor, and the Pequeño Carpintero, among others. We will then cross the river to penetrate the Nauta Caño gorge, an area rich in birds to observe the different birds as the Arasari Tucancillo, and a variety of flycatchers such as the Mosquerito Colirrojizo, Mosquerito Pico-Plano Ala Amarilla, Mosquera Picuda, Mosquera Pecho Oscuro, Mosquera Vientre Azufrado and also a diversity of creepers such as the Trepador Cola Larga, Pico de Cuña, Garganta Anteada, Pico Recto Ocelado and many other birds. On the way back and if time allows it we will wait to moonrise on the waters of the Marañon River which is a wonderful spectacle specially during full moon. Later, we will return to the lodge to dine and rest.
DAY 03- 04 THIRD AND FOURTH DAY: CAMPING AT THE PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE
At dawn we will take a hike in the surroundings looking for birds to then go back to the lodge for breakfast. Immediately after, we will take off to the Pacaya Samiria National Reservewhere we will register and enter the reserve. We will penetrate it through the Yanayacu River basin. This is an area which has recently been open to tourists and it is extremely rich in bird species (home to more than 400 different species), flora and fauna. We can also watch pink and grey dolphins, turtles, different species of primates, sloth and others. We will stop to enjoy our box lunch under the shadows of some tree and then continue with the excursion.
Among the birds we will observe different types of fishing birds such as the Amazon kingfisher, the large kingfisher, the green and reddish kingfisher, and the spectacular Pygmee kingfisher. We will additionally observe flocks of Tangara s (Pyranga sp.), the hazelnut coloured ear Arasaris, the red crest woodpecker, the Cotingas lentejueladas, lemon throat Barbudos, the white ear Jacamares (Galbula) and the Donacobios.
We will sail in lagoons and rivers hidden by vegetation, we will walk along open paths in the heart of the jungle in search for the Shouting Unicorn (camungo), the ash-grey Sparrowhawks, Jabirus, Storks, Gabans, Pink Spoonbills, Avefrias pinta and many more. Sometime during the day we will go back to camp and get comfortable. At night we will go out to go across the forest looking for owls, nocturnal birds and black caimans.
On the fourth day we will get up very early in the morning to go on an excursion looking for more variety of birds such as the white beard hermit, large beak hermit, the violet Trogon, the white tail Trogon, the blue crown and reddish Relojeros. We will stop during the day to enjoy our box lunch and then we will continue with the program. At sunset, we will return to camp where we will dine and take a refreshing rest after a day full of activities.
DAY 05 CAMPING AT THE PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE / LODGE
After breakfast, we will leave the camp to deepen into the park. We will hike through the primary forest towards the nearby lagoon to observe the variety of flora and fauna that grows there. We will be able to see more birds and animals that are rarely seen, such as the Hoatzin (prehistoric bird) that very few have the opportunity to see. We will rest for a while to eat our box lunch and then continue hiking. Throughout the day, we will arrive at the camp and settle there. In the afternoon, we will take a canoe ride through a nearby ravine where we will observe a larger variety of birds and other animals, additional to beautiful flowers and huge t rees. After the exciting experience we will go back to the lodge to dine and rest.
DAY 06 NATIVE COMMUNITY / IQUITOS
At daybreak, we will take a walk by the forest surrounding the lodge. We will have a chance to see the blue coloured, the coil tail and the golden head Saltarin (bouncer). We will also see Trogones as the black throat and many other species of anteaters, among them the white sides Hormiguerito, the dotted wing Batara and the rare black comb Batara. Then, we will go back to the lodge for breakfast. Immediately after, we will visit a native community and observe their daily activities.
We will be able to collaborate with the development of the community buying handicrafts typical of the area. These are made of seeds and vegetable ivory called “tagua.” Immediately after lunch we will take off to the airport of Iquitos to board the flight to Lima.
