DAY
01 IQUITOS
/ PACAYA SAMIRIA LODGE (l/d)
Reception at the airport. Transfer by boat to Pacaya-Samiria
Amazon Lodge (PSAL). The travel time lasts from 3.5 to 4 hours.
We will observe the confluence of the Marañon and Ucayali
Rivers, where the Amazonas River, by name, begins. Arrival
to the lodge and lodging. In the afternoon, we will take a
hike through the rainforest that surrounds the lodge to appreciate
the rainforest's flora and fauna. Depending of the climate
conditions, we will observe a beautiful sunset from our watch-tower.
Overnight in the lodge.
DAY 02
PACAYA SAMIRIA LODGE (b/l/d)
Jungle wild dawn. Birdwatching. Breakfast. Departure to the
PSNR. Boat excursion to Nauta creek and the surrounding lakes
(cochas). Chance to observe flora and fauna (monkeys, sloths
and wide variety of aquatic birds). Swimming. Fishing. Exploration
of seasonally fooded forest (flat lands flooded each year
by the seasonal rainfall). Return to lodge - Overnight at
PSAL.
DAY 03
PACAYA SAMIRIA LODGE (b/l/d)
Birdwatching. Departure to the PSNR. Excursion in search of
grey and pink dolphins down the Yanayacu River. Visit to Japon
and Plantano Lakes (cochas) with a wide variety of flora and
fauna. The black water of the river reflects with the fidelity
of a mirror, that is why PSNR is known as the "jungle
of the mirrors". Swimming. Fishing. Identification of
plants and trees. Return to
lodge. Observation of stars and planets. Overnight at PSAL.
DAY 04
PACAYA SAMIRIA LODGE / IQUITOS
(b/l)
Visit a riverbank village to know more about the river people's
lifestyle and their daily activities. The people make their
living hunting, gathering, fishing or from agriculture. Transfer
to Iquitos to board your flight.
