DAY 1 HUARAZ
/ WISHCASH (l/d)
Depart from Huaraz by private car to the north, visiting on
route the towns of Carhuaz, Yungay and Caraz located at the
"Callejón de Huaylas", then we will take
a deviation to Colcas and will begin to ascend until Hualcallan
( the journey take approximately 3 hours ) where we will meet
the porters and will begin the trek. We arrive at Wishcash
where we will camp.
DAY 2 WISHCASH
/ OSORURI (b/l/d)
 We
will walk on the border of the canyon and visit Yanacocha
and Azulcocha lagoons. Then we will walk on the shores of
Cullicocha lagoon where we will have a magnificent view of
the snow peak of "Nevado Santa Cruz". We will continue
our ascent until we arrive at "Abra de Cullicocha"
at 4,850 m.a.s.l, then we will descend to "Abra de Alto
Alpamayo" at 4,650 m.a.s.l and finally to Osoruri at
4,500 m.a.s.l. where we will camp. (Time 6-7 hours aprox)
DAY 3 OSORURI
/ QUEBRADA ALPAMAYO (b/l/d)
The trail descends to "La Quebrada de los Cedros"
to walk the way to "La Quebrada Alpamayo" at 3,800
m.a.s.l where we will camp. At this point we will have a beautiful
view of the pyramidal shape of the "Nevado Alpamayo"
(5,947 m.a.s.l). This snow peak is considered the most beautiful
mountain in the world. (Time 6-7 hours)
DAY 4 QUEBRADA
ALPAMAYO (b/l/d)
The whole day will be dedicated to explore and appreciate
the "Nevado Alpamayo" ascending by Jancarurish Lagoon.
Then descend to our camp to enjoy a delicious Pachamanca.
(Time 5 hours)
DAY 5 QUEBRADA
ALPAMAYO / HUILLCA (b/l/d)
Leaving our camp we will cross a small river to begin our
ascent to Caracara at 4,830 m.a.s.l. Then we will descend
over Moyobamba valley and go through "El Paso de Mesapampa"
at 4,500 m.a.s.l, we will then continue to Huillca Valley
at 4,300 m.a.s.l where we will camp. (Time 6 hours aprox)
DAY 6 HUILLCA / QUEBRADA PISHGOPAMPA
(b/l/d)
Depart to "Paso Sactaycocha" at 4,600 m.a.s.l, after
we will continue the trek descending to "La Quebrada
de Pishaopampa" at 3,500 m.a.s.l where we will camp.
(Time 6-7 hours)
DAY 7 QUEBRADA
PISHGOPAMPA/ QUISHUAR (b/l/d)
The trail ascends until "El paso de Tupa Tupa" at
4,400 m.a.s.l, then we will descend to Quisuar at 3,400 m.a.s.l
where we will camp. (Time 5- 6 hours aprox)
 DAY
8 QUISHUAR / CHINGIL (b/l/d)
Leaving our camp we will ascend to "Paso de Yanahirca"
at 4,400 m.a.s.l to arrive at Chingil at 3.500 m.a.s.l, where
we will camp at a local school.
(Time 5-6 hours)
DAY 9 CHINGIL / QUEBRADA QUESHU
(b/l/d)
Depart to Colcabamba town at 3,200 m.a.s.l, then we will go
to "la Quebrada Queshu" at 3,300 m.a.s.l where we
will camp. (Time 4-5 hours)
DAY 10 QUEBRADA QUESHU / OCSHAPAMPA
(b/l/d)
Today we will ascend to "Paso de Yanayacua" at 4,850
m.a.s.l where we will have a magnificent view of the snow
peaks of Cajavilca, Contrahierbas and some others. Afterwards
we will descend to Ocshapampa where we will camp. (Time 6-7
hours)
DAY 11 OCSHAPAMPA / HUARAZ
(b)
We will leave our camp to depart to "La Quebrada Ulta",
this trek takes approximately 2 hours. Here our car will be
waiting for us to return to Huaraz.
