This is one
of the most significant cities in Inka History. Vilcabamba is
the city that was searched for when Machu Picchu was discovered.
It is the last refuge of the Inka Kingdom for forty years after
the Spanish conquerors had captured the greatest part of the
Empire.
It is one of the most remote locations to visit deep in the
jungle. So the trail to Vilcabamba takes you through a variety
of ecosystems as you descend from the Heights of the Andes down
into the richness and diversity of Amazonia.
