GASTRONOMIC PERU
11 days / 10 nights
Destinations: Lima, Paracas, Nasca, Arequipa, Cusco, Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu
 
TOUR DESCRIPTION

DAY 01 ARRIVAL AT LIMA (154 m.a.s.l.)2
Arrival to Lima’s International Airport, and reception by our personnel. Transfer and accommodation in hotel. (Private transport with expert personnel). Overnight.

DAY 02 LIMA
Breakfast at hotel. Morning pick up at the hotel (private bus with tour escort). Visit a local food market where guide will brief passengers on the variety of native Peruvian produces found there. Passengers will learn, through documentaries shown on the bus, how to make ceviche, (one of our countries most popular seafood dishes), about the history and the process of making Pisco (Peru’s national spirit), and about the history of Peruvian food. 
After the first documentary, passengers will have the opportunity to participate in a master class on ceviche in one the best cevicherias (seafood restaurant) of the city. Then, passengers will visit a tavern and Pisco cellar to taste drinks based on Pisco. After that, they will taste a traditional Peruvian buffet lunch at a restaurant, which includes native soft drinks or sodas. Finally, bus stop at a shop where passengers will be able to buy cook books and souvenirs. In the afternoon, return to hotel. Overnight.

DAY 03 LIMA / PARACAS (At sea Level)
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Paracas (km. 250, approximately 3:30-hour journey) on private bus. On the way, visit of Pachacamac ruinsand lunch at "El Piloto Restaurant" in Cañete (forced stop for those who want a good lunch on the road). 4 Arrival and accommodation at hotel. Overnight.

DAY 04 PARACAS / NASCA (588 m.a.s.l)
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Nasca (km.220 approximately 3-hour journey) on private bus. Afternoon, a 30 - minute’s overflight of the Nasca lines and figures. Dinner buffet and show at "El Portón" restaurant (typical buffet consisting on dishes from the coast of Peru). Overnight.

DAY 05 NASCA / AREQUIPA (2,335 m.a.s.l)
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Arequipa on private bus (Km. 560, approximately 9-hour journey). Lunch at "El Trujillano" restaurant in Camaná (seafood). Afternoon arrival at Arequipa.  Accommodation at hotel. Overnight.

DAY 06 AREQUIPA
Breakfast in hotel. Morning at leisure. Lunch at "Sol de Mayo" typical restaurant. Afternoon tour of the city and the Santa Catalina Convent. Overnight. 

DAY 07 AREQUIPA / CUSCO  (3,399 m.a.s.l) a
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport. Departure to Cusco on scheduled flight. Arrival, reception and transfer to hotel. Lunch at a typical restaurant from Cusco, where the famous pachamanca is prepared with different kinds of meat, tubers and herbs that are cooked underground by heating river-bank rocks. Afternoon visit to different historical sites of the city and the nearby ruins of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puca Pucará and Tambomachay. Overnight.  

DAY 08 CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS (2,846 m.a.s.l)
Breakfast at hotel. Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In the morning, visit the Indian craft market of Pisaq. Lunch buffet at the beautiful Posada del Inca Hotel in Yucay. In the afternoon, visit the Fortress of Ollantaytambo. After the visit, accommodation at hotel. Overnight.

DAY 09 SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Ollantaytambo's train station. Departure on tourist class train to Aguas Calientes. Guided visit to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Afternoon return to Aguas Calientes for lunch at "Inkaterra Café". After lunch, departure to Cusco on tourist class train. Arrive at Poroy station, reception and transfer to hotel. Overnight. 3

DAY 11 CUSCO / LIMA
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport. Departure to Lima on scheduled flight. Arrival, reception and transfer to hotel. Lunch at "Puro Peru" restaurant (fish, shellfish and typical Peruvian food buffet). Afternoon tour of the city, colonial and modern. Overnight.  

DAY 12 DEPARTURE OF LIMA
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport at an appropriate time.

  • All transfers at arrival and departure from each place, assisted by expert personnel.
  • Private service of local bilingual guides, EXCEPT:
    Ballestas Islands (Shared yacht, without a guide on board).
    Nasca lines overflight (Spanish / English speaking pilot-guide).
  • Al tickets and entrance fees to museums, historical sites, etc.

  • Meals as indicated in the program.
  • Train Backpacker for excursion to Machu Picchu.
