DAY 1 – ARRIVAL TO LIMA (154 m.a.s.l) Arrival to the airport of Lima. Reception, transfer and accommodation at La Hacienda Hotel or similar. Overnight.
DAY 2 – LIMA (AB)
Morning at leisure to rest and for private activities. In the afternoon, city tour (Lima Colonial and Modern). Overnight.
DAY 3 – LIMA / HUANCAYO (3,249 m.a.s.l) (AB – L)
Transfer from the hotel to “Desamparados” train station. Depart to Huancayo (without a tour leader) at 7 am. Lunch on board.
Built in 1908, the Ferrocarril Central has an extension of 346km and reaches 4,829 m.a.s.l., becoming the highest train in the world. It goes through 68 bridges and 71 tunnels, being the San Juan tunnel the largest with 1,373 meters.
Reception, transfer and accommodation at the Turistas Hotel or similar. Overnight.
DAY 4 – HUANCAYO / HUANCAVELICA (3,660 m.a.s.l.) (AB)
Depart to Huancavelica on the “macho” train.
The journey lasts 5 hours. The route has 138 km. The construction started in 1908 and was finished 18 years after.
Arrival, reception and transfer to Hotel Presidente or similar. Overnight.
(A private transport will follow the passengers from Lima to Huancayo and Huancavelica where it will wait until transfer to hotel).
DAY 5 – HUANCAVELICA / ICA (0 m.a.s.l.) (AB)
Depart to Ica (without a tour leader - 293 km) on private transport with expert driver. On the way, visit the Inca de Tambo Colorado ruins (without a local guide). Arrival at Ica and accommodation at Las Dunas Hotel or similar. Overnight.
DAY 6 – ICA / PARACAS / NASCA (588 m.a.s.l.) (AB – D)
Morning excursion to the Ballestas Islands (08:00 – 10:00). Then, depart to Nasca (without a tour leader - 220 km) on private bus with expert driver. Arrival and transfer to airport for a 30-minute flight over the Nasca lines and figures (Optional flight). Dinner at restaurant. Overnight at Casa Andina Hotel or similar.
DAY 7 – NASCA / CHALHUANCA (2,650 m.a.s.l.) (AB – BL)
Very early morning, departure to Abancay (without a tour leader - 361 km) on private bus with expert driver. On the way, visit the National Reserve of Pampa Galeras (3,900 m.a.s.l.) where thousands of vicuñas are raised in a natural environment.
Go across the Andes mountain range going through the Pampa de Negro Mayo, high plateau at 4,200 m.a.s.l. with many lagoons inhabited by fenicopters and other Andean birds. Along the route observe beautiful Andean landscapes and many alpaca and llama breeding grounds. Box lunch included.
Afternoon arrival and accommodation at Tampumayu Hotel. Overnight.
DAY 8 – CHALHUANCA / CUSCO (3,399 m.a.s.l.) (AB – BL)
Departure to Cusco (without a tour leader - 330 km) on private bus with expert driver. On the way, visit the interesting Inca de Saywite ruins (a sanctuary dedicated to worship water) and Tarawasi (administrative center Inca) (Guidance in Spanish by the guardians). Box lunch included. Arrival and accommodation at Hotel Ruinas or similar. Overnight.
DAY 9 – CUSCO (AB)
Morning at leisure to rest or optional visits. Afternoon tour of the city and 4 nearby ruins. Overnight.
DAY 10 – CUSCO / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO (AB – L)
Transfer to train station to board the Backpacker train to Aguas Calientes. Arrival and transfer to the ruins on minivan. Guided visit of Machu Picchu.
After the visit return to Aguas Calientes for lunch at restaurant and then continue to Cusco on Backpacker train. Arrival at Poroy and transfer to hotel. Overnight.
DAY 11 – CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY / CUSCO (AB – L)
Full day excursion to the Pisac market and the Fortress of Ollantaytambo. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon, return to Cusco and accommodation at hotel. Overnight.
DAY 12 – CUSCO / PUNO (3,826 m.a.s.l.) (AB – L)
Transfer to train station to board the Andean Explorer’s to Puno. Lunch on board.
Afternoon arrival to Puno, reception and transfer to Casa Andina Hotel or similar. Overnight.
DAY 13 – PUNO / UROS & TAQUILE / PUNO (AB – L)
Full day excursion to Lake Titicaca and visit the famous Uros floating islands and the island of Taquile (SIC speedboat , but with private guide). Lunch at the community of Taquile. Afternoon return to Puno. Overnight.
DAY 14 – PUNO / AREQUIPA (2,335 m.a.s.l.) (AB – BL)
Departure to Arequipa by land (without a tour leader - 294 km) on private bus with expert driver.
On the way, visit the Sillustani necropolis and observe beautiful Andean landscapes with its abundant fauna of Peruvian Andean camelids. Box lunch included. Afternoon arrival and accommodation at hotel. Overnight at Cabildo Hotel or similar.
DAY 15 - AREQUIPA (AB)
Morning tour of the city and the Santa Catalina Monastery. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight.
DAY 16 – AREQUIPA / LIMA / AIRPORT (AB)
Transfer to airport to board itinerary flight to Lima. Arrival and transfer to visit the Archeological Museum.
Afternoon transfer to airport and assistance with departure paperwork.
